About William Byron

William Byron, born on November 29, 1997, is an esteemed figure in American professional stock car racing. Currently competing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, Byron drives the iconic No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports. His racing repertoire also includes part-time stints in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, where he operates the No. 17 Chevrolet Camaro for HMS, and in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, driving the No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado for Kyle Busch Motorsports.

Byron's racing triumph begins with the 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Championship victory. His accolades continued when he won the Sunoco Rookie of the Year award in the 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. In an impressive follow-up, he bagged the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship, the 2017 Sunoco Rookie of the Year, and the 2018 MENCS Sunoco Rookie of the Year award.

His love for racing ignited at the age of six when he witnessed a stock car race on TV and was further fueled by attending a race at Martinsville Speedway in 2006. During his early years, Byron achieved great success in the iRacing simulator. He managed to secure more than 100 victories and 298 top-five positions in online competitions.

It wasn't until 2012 that William Byron transitioned from virtual to real-world racing. Starting relatively late at the age of 15, he began racing Legends and quickly found success by winning 33 races, earning him the Legend Car Young Lions Division champion title.

During his early years, Byron achieved great success in the iRacing simulator. He managed to secure more than 100 victories and 298 top-five positions in online competitions. He continued to race Legends while also competing in the No. 9 Liberty University Chevrolet at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina. During this period, Byron demonstrated his talent by scoring a victory and 11 top-five finishes, finishing a close second in points to teammate Josh Berry at Hickory.
